Meet You at the Horizon

I rose early for our date,

I was eager as a bride,

The day was about to break,

And my eyes longed for the sight!

I could smell salt in the air.

The sand felt cool under my toes.

The great expanse was awakening….

Like a gorgeous blooming rose.

My dazzling friend is ever punctual –

It never fails to appear,

Filling our hearts with hope,

As the light of dawn draws near.

Slowly, the sun crept in,

Painting the sky with its glory,

Turning the world orange bright,

Creating a brand-new story.

Oh! What magnificent colors

The radiant star sets ablaze!

As the surface of the water

Mirrors back its gleaming face.

The clouds dance under the sunlight,

While the earth in its axis spins.

Onward, for time is ticking!

The sun commands with a grin.

The day grows old,

And hours are spent.

The sun casts longer shadows,

As it begins its descent.

The horizon has been waiting,

To swallow the light of day,

As earth and sun dance together,

Millions of miles away.

It is time! I stand on the shore….

Orange and pink fade to grey.

I survey the heavenly canvas,

And the moon comes out to play.

Sea and sky join in a kiss.

The horizon disappears.

But the stars are very curious,

And soon their light floods the sphere.

A thousand shimmering fairies

Around the moon come to dance,

And the dark night is enchanted,

As it watches in a trance.

The horizon becomes a crown,

Adorned with a thousand sparkles.

And the ocean sings a love song,

Under the pearly sky’s mantle.
